SCOUTS New Zealand And UL

SCOUTS New Zealand welcomes both boys and girls, ages 6 to 26, and seeks to empower youth through adventurous experiences to lead lives that make a positive difference.

Established in 1907, the Scouting Movement in New Zealand has grown to over 16,000 youth members enrolled in any one-year who are ably supported by 5,000 volunteer leaders from all walks of life.

Under the banner of Adventure Plus, our youth development program seeks to provide youth with skills and experiences that last a lifetime, and that enrich their lives and the communities they live in.

‘We are very excited about the partnership with UL and the opportunity to deliver the Safety Smart® program. UL are a great community partner to work with, and have been very engaged and supportive in helping SCOUTS New Zealand deliver this first module about fire safety.

In addition to supporting messages about fire vigilance when out camping in the New Zealand bush this summer, the Safety Smart® program has a number of fantastic take home messages about fire safety in the home, which Scouts can share with the whole family.

The goals of Safety Smart® align very closely to our Scouting program, and we look forward to working with UL to deliver other modules and safety messages in the coming years.’

-Niamh Lawless, Chief Executive, SCOUTS New Zealand

‘The partnership with UL and the many relevant resources they have provided, further enhance the weekly adventurous program that our 16,000 youth experience. We have not changed our program to fit UL and this was important to us – there was a natural and genuine fit with what youth are learning and the resources add real, tangible value.’
